The African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English (ARCSSTE-E) is established in Nigeria at Obafemi Awolowo University Campus, Ile-Ife.
Within the framework of its mandate to build capacity in core areas of Remote Sensing and GIS, Satellite Communication, Satellite Meteorology and Global Climate and Basic Space and Atmospheric Sciences Applications.
The Center trains participants mostly from English-speaking African countries: Angola, Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland Tanzania, The Gambia, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
The Space Education courses comprise a 9-month Post Graduate Diploma Programme that begins from January to September every year; and an optional 18- months Masters degree programme leading to the award of M.Tech in collaboration with the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).

The convocation ceremony of the ARCSSTEE/FUTA Masters Programme took place on saturday, 18th March, 2017. The 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 sets joined other graduates at the Federal University of Technology, Akure auditorium during the 28th Convocation ceremony.
The ceremony hosted by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Adebiyi G. Daramola had in attendance the executive governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, and dignitaries from all over the country including former Minister of Agriculture, Dr Akinwumi Adesina and Prof. Reiner Hurn, who were both conferred with a honorary doctorate degree of Management Technology.
Also in attendance was the Executive Director of ARCSSTEE, Dr. G. I. Agbaje and the Head, Post Graduate Programmes, Dr. O. R. Oladosu.
The Chancellor of the University, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, congratulated the graduands and encouraged them to use the training received during their course of study for advancement, community service and the development of Nigeria at large. He further admonished them to live up to expectation having been found worthy in character and learning.
In his own remark, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of the University, Dr Mohammed Shatta stated that the occassion was not only to showcase and give account but to also reflect on the achievements and challenges facing the institution. He further encouraged the graduands to see their certification as an opportunity to bring about a new order in the society through reforms in technology, politics, business, economy and education.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, welcomed dignitaries and guests to the occassion.
He welcomed in particular, the newly sworn Executive Governor of Ondo State, Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and looked forward to more collaboration between FUTA and Ondo State.
He highlighted the many achievements of FUTA in recent times including the development of the first Nigerian University Satellite in collaboration with the National Space Research and Development Agency and Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan. He further advised the graduands to be icons of peace, good conduct, security and socio-economic transformation at all times.
A total of 2,889 students were conferred with Diploma, Bachelor, Post Graduate Diploma, M.Tech and Ph.D degrees. Twenty seven (27) graduands of the ARCSSTEE/FUTA Masters programme were conferred with Masters in Space Science and Technology degree.

Eligible candidates must be graduates or HND holders from a recognized university or polytechnic respectively and in addition, satisfy the minimum GCE ‘O’ Level, WASC, SSCE, NECO or NABTEB entry requirements of credit passes or its equivalent in 5 subjects, including: English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Geography (for Remote Sensing/ GIS and Satellite Meteorology option).
Successful candidates are expected to score an Upper Credit grade if they would be considered for future academic programmes (Masters etc).

The Joint M.Tech. Degree programme will be full-time, and the duration shall be for a minimum period of 18 months (3 semesters) and a maximum of 24 months (4 semesters). The duration shall comprise two semesters of course work and an intensive period of research work and thesis writing based on a research proposal submitted and approved at the end of the second semester.

2. Admission Acceptance = #25'000 (Payable One Week after Admission is given)
3. School Fees = #350'000 (50% must be paid by first week of first semester registration; remaining 50% is paid by first week of second semester registration).
4. The Programme is Full Time with First Semester (6 months) at Federal University of Technology, Akure; while Second Semester (6 months) is at ARCSSTEE, Ile Ife.
The remaining 6 months is for research seminars and thesis presentation.

The present chapter contains the deliberations of the working group on remote sensing and the geographic information system, which was established during the United Nations Expert Meeting on the Regional Centres for Space Science and Technology Education: Status and Future Development, on a revised curriculum. The curriculum of the six courses that have been held at the Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific and the academic performance evaluation are contained in annexes I and II, respectively
