E.E. BALOGUN NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM

The United Nations African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English (UN-ARCSSTEE) is pleased to announce the 7th Prof. E.E. Balogun National Symposium which is scheduled to be held on   29th July 2024 within the premises of the United Nations African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education (UN-ARCSSTEE), Obafemi Awolowo University Campus, Ile-Ife, Nigeria

UN-ARCSSTE-E is one of the regional centres created following the endorsement of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolutions 37/90 on 10th December 1982 and in its resolution 45/72 of 11th December 1990. The Centre has the mandate to develop indigenous capacity in all areas of Space Science and Technology and its applications at the postgraduate levels as well as to educate, create awareness, motivate and inspire school children at all levels to develop interest in Space.

UN-ARCSSTE-E has now completed 25 years of impact on the African continent through indigenous capacity building in space science and technology education.. Consequently, this year’s symposium focuses on ARCSSTE-E’s role in building capacity, enlightenment drives, awareness creation through Space Science and Technology Education in Africa for sustainable national and regional development.

This combined 7th and 8th  Professor Ekundayo E. Balogun National Symposium on Atmospheric Research is in commemoration of the 87th birthday anniversary of the eminent professor of atmospheric research who was one of the pioneers of atmospheric research in Nigeria as well as the pioneer Executive Director of the UN-ARCSSTE-E. The Centre welcomes participation from all walks of life in this edition of the Prof. E.E. Balogun National Symposium which forms part of the activities to mark the Silver Jubilee anniversary of the Centre. The Symposium will run in a hybrid format (onsite and online).
