The African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English (ARCSSTE–E), located within Obafemi Awolowo University Campus, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, took part in a Science Symposium 2026 hosted by the Redeemer’s University Association of Physical Science Students (RUNAPSS), Ede, Osun State, Nigeria, on Thursday, April 23, 2026. The event, themed “Dynamis: Unlocking the Potential in Science, Innovation and Industry”, brought together academics, researchers, professionals and students from various institutions, including Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), to discuss the intersection of science, technology, and industrial development.
A major highlight of the symposium was a presentation by Dr. Samuel Anih, the Head of Space Education and Outreach Programme (SEOP), who represented the Director of ARCSSTE-E, Engr. Dr. Seyi F. Olatoyinbo. In his address, Dr. Anih emphasized the growing importance of space innovation in driving sustainable development. He called for stronger collaboration between research institutions and industry players to ensure that scientific breakthroughs translate into practical solutions for societal problems.

Participants at the symposium responded positively to the presentation, describing it as very insightful, educative, as well as impactful. The session sparked discussions on how Nigeria and other developing economies can better harness scientific research to stimulate industrial growth and national development.

The programme concluded with the Head of Physical Sciences at Redeemer’s University, Dr. Modupe Sanyaolu, presenting Dr. Anih with a Certificate of Participation and a token of appreciation. In return, the ARCSSTE-E Delegation donated educational posters to the Faculty of Physical Sciences.

ARCSSTE-E’s participation at the symposium highlights its ongoing efforts to promote capacity building and the application of space science and technology in addressing real-world challenges. The engagement also reinforces the importance of partnerships between academic institutions in advancing innovation across the African continent.
