UN-ARCSSTE-E WELCOMES ENGR. DR. FESTUS
OLATOYINBO AS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
In a significant leadership transition, the African Regional Centre for Space Science and
Technology Education in English (ARCSSTE-E) welcomed Engr. Dr. Festus Olatoyinbo as its new
Executive Director, at the Space Museum on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Engr. Dr. Olatoyinbo brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as
the substantive Provost of the Institute of Space Science and Engineering (ISSE), a postgraduate
institute under the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA). The ISSE is
affiliated with the African University of Science and Technology (AUST) in Abuja, FCT. In
addition to his role as Provost, Dr. Olatoyinbo has been an Assistant Professor in the Aerospace
Engineering Department at ISSE since October 2018.
The welcome ceremony for Dr. Olatoyinbo was filled with mixed emotions as it also served as a
send-forth for the outgoing Executive Director, Prof. Babatunde Rabiu, and four newly appointed
Directors within ARCSSTE-E. Dr. Olatoyinbo joined the staff in celebrating the outgoing
Directors, who were honored with plaques in recognition of their significant contributions to the
Centre’s progress.
The newly appointed Directors are:
• Mrs. Ali-Fadiora Lami**, Director, Department of International Cooperation and
Linkages, NASRDA
• Dr. Omowumi Alabi**, Director, Cooperative Information Network
• Dr. Bolarinwa Balogun**, Director, Atlantic International Research Centre, NASRDA
• Chief Babatunde Olaiya**, Director, Facility Management and Project, NASRDA
Dr. Olatoyinbo’s appointment as Executive Director is seen as a promising development for
ARCSSTE-E. As ARCSSTE-E continues to build on its achievements, the leadership of Engr. Dr.
Olatoyinbo is poised to usher in a new era of growth, collaboration, and innovation in the African
space sector.
