The Executive Director of the African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology
Education in English (ARCSSTE-E), Engr. Dr. Festus Olatoyinbo paid a courtesy visit to
Professor Bamire, the Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), on Tuesday, 13th August, 2024 in one of the conference halls within the Senate Building.
Prof. Bamire welcomed Engr. Dr. Olatoyinbo, introduced his team; Prof. M.O. Babalola (DVC Academic), Prof. O. M. A. Daramola (DVC Admin), Prof. Akanni Akinyemi (DVC Research, Innovation and Development), Mr. A. K. Bakare (Registrar), Dr. O. A. Fadehan (Librarian), Mrs. O. I. Abogan (Bursar) and some members of the VC’s Office. He proceeded to request the purpose of the visit.
Engr. Dr. Olatoyinbo appreciated the VC for accommodating the Centre within its campus, and also for the land that had been allocated to the Centre without cost, to which he assured him, that development would commence. In addition, he re-stated the mandate of the Centre which involves advancing space technology within and outside the country and solicited for the continuous support of the university.
Being an academician himself, the Executive Director emphasized fostering the joint Master’s program the Centre has with OAU while looking forward to more collaborations with the University. He opened up on his desire to advance the academic careers of his staff, proudly announcing his team with PhD holders.
In response, the VC congratulated Engr. Dr. Olatoyinbo on his newly appointed position. Also,
he acknowledged the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) for the existing relationship that has promoted development, pointing out that peaceful co-existence was important in the special community of intellectuals.
Furthermore, the VC appreciated the spirit of the Director in wanting his members of staff to develop and affirmed that such an attitude is essential for any system to grow. In conclusion, Prof. Bamire wished the Director all the best and promised to return the courtesy visit.
